Reiki FAQ

Reiki is the channelling of Universal healing energy that assists your body in its own highest level of physical and emotional wellbeing. It works by gently dissolving any stagnant blocks of energy within, to facilitate the free flow of Universal energy throughout your meridians and, chakras.
Practiced regularly, Reiki is a consistent and vital means of relieving and releasing stress, tension, and hypertension. It’s wonderfully relaxing and is highly beneficial for not just humans, but for any living thing.

When we suffer the onset of continual negative thinking, it affects our mental health. Such energy can then become stored in our bodies that affects the natural flow of universal life force energy. This can ultimately lead to dis-ease.
Reiki can help shift these stagnant blocks of energy and help you to achieve balance of mind, body and soul.

The main benefits of receiving a Reiki session are as follows: –

Reiki can be likened to that feeling you got as a child when someone you loved, comforted you with their hands. They soothed away your pain and they made you feel a lot better. These are the sensations I feel when I receive Reiki, however, we are all different.
The most common reported sensations are: –

A deep feeling of relaxation
Feeling sensations of heat and/or tingling
Seeing colours
Feeling emotional, which is OK as this means the harmony is being restored

Reiki, crystals or any other type of energy healing does not replace a doctor or professional, health care treatment. It can be delivered alongside treatments to aid physical and psychological healing.

A consultation will take place at the beginning and end of your session. If this is your first time receiving Reiki from Amanda, you will need to add an additional 30 minutes to your time for a first time induction.
You can have Reiki stood up, sat down, or on a massage bed
You remain fully clothed with the exception of your shoes, which is optional
The setting will include relaxing music and lots of crystals
My Reiki includes a chakra balance and a cleansing and strengthening of your aura

A Reiki treatment can last days, if not weeks and regular treatments will usually take place on a monthly or fortnightly basis. It really depends on you and your current state of wellbeing.
The actual session of Reiki will last for 60 minutes or 90 minutes depending on your choice of treatment. If you’re receiving Reiki from Amanda for the first time, please add an additional 30 minutes for a first-time consultation.

Wear comfortable clothing that isn’t too restrictive. Amanda will also ask you to remove your shoes, but this is optional and she will ask you during your consultation.
Refrain from excessive alcohol intake 48 hours before treatment.

Side effects that you could experience following Reiki could include, feeling emotional. This is down to the release of toxins from the body. Please refer to ‘what is a healing crisis?’
Always drink plenty of water following a session and do not drive straight away.

Some people and practitioners can experience what is known as a healing crisis. This is the release of toxins or pent-up emotions that have been deep-seated for years. A better terminology would be a healing cleansing as the phrase healing crisis is in my opinion, negative and worrying.
Common symptoms of a healing cleansing can be mild flu symptoms, emotional release, headache or tiredness and they don’t last more than a day or so. Please feel free to ask me questions about this so that I can put your mind at ease.

Reiki will not be provided if you’re under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.

I have received training and attunements from a Reiki Master to allow me to do this for you.
I’m also an approved member of the UK Reiki Federation, who have validated my Reiki lineage and I adhere to their professional standard.
As I am practicing Reiki every day as part of my own self-care routine, I have the knowledge and experience to help you. I also take part by continuing my professional development at all times as evidenced in my Reiki Journal.

Reiki training, attunements, or initiations will assist you on your spiritual journey and ability to self-heal. It is open to anyone as it’s a spiritual and not a religious practice. Visiting my Learn Reiki website will assist you further.
