Sensing spirits in energy form is something that I have recently began experiencing, which is thanks to a beautiful meditation. However, last week, a client described seeing something similar during a Reiki treatment, which inspires this journal.
The Journey Begins: Meditation and Awareness
Meditation, a practice as ancient as humanity itself, often serves as a gateway to heightened awareness and spiritual revelations. It was during one such profound meditation that I first began to perceive spirits as merely energy. Settling into a quiet and receptive state of mind, I began by asking for Reiki to flow. Next, I focused on my breath, allowing each exhale to release tension and each inhale to invite clarity. This practice of mindfulness, essential in many spiritual traditions, prepared me for the extraordinary experience that was about to unfold.
Sensing Spirits in Energy Form
As I delved deeper into meditation, my mind transcended its usual boundaries, opening up to a realm of pure energy. It was then that I encountered a guiding presence, an energy form that radiated warmth and love. This guide did not possess a physical form, nor could it be defined by human characteristics such as gender. Instead, it was a manifestation of pure energy, a spirit composed of light and vibrations. The encounter was both humbling and enlightening, reinforcing the concept that spirits are fundamentally energy.
Through this meditation, I realised that the essence of a spirit transcends physical form. This awareness was not just a fleeting thought but a deeply felt experience, a testament to the transformative power of meditation.

Such experiences underscore the importance of quieting the mind and opening oneself to the subtle energies that surround us. Meditation becomes a tool for connecting with spirit, revealing that our true essence, and that of the spirits we encounter, is pure energy. This understanding resonates deeply within the practice of Reiki and other energy-based healing modalities. Through these practices, we come to see that spirits, like us, are simply energy, interwoven in the vast tapestry of the universe.
A Faceless Being of Light During Reiki
During a recent reiki session, my client recounted a profound and transformative experience. While in a deeply relaxed state, she described seeing a figure with no discernible face, only a radiant light emanating from where facial features would typically be. This luminous being exuded an overwhelming sense of love and compassion.
As the client shared her vision, an intuitive recognition arose within me. It became evident that the experience bore a remarkable resemblance to my own. This connection felt more than coincidental; it suggested a deeper, perhaps shared, spiritual guidance at work. The presence of this faceless being of light, offering unconditional love, seemed to be a universal message meant for both of us.
These shared experiences reinforce the concept of spirits as just energy, manifesting in forms that resonate with our individual perceptions and needs. The faceless being of light is a compelling representation of this idea, illustrating how spiritual energy can be both personal and universal. The message of love conveyed through these experiences, serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of all beings.
The Role of Reiki in Sensing Spirits
Reiki, a form of spiritual healing, offers a unique pathway for sensing spirits as energy. During reiki treatments, practitioners and clients often report an enhanced ability to feel the presence of spirits. This phenomenon is attributed to the deep relaxation and heightened awareness induced by the practice. When entering an alpha state in the brain—a state associated with relaxation and meditation—it becomes easier to connect with spirits. These spirits communicate their presence and love through subtle shifts in energy, rather than through verbal means.

Fiona’s article titled, ‘common signs your loved one is visiting you‘ further supports this concept of ongoing energy and spirit communication.
According to Fiona, loved ones who have passed on may visit us in the form of subtle signs, such as a sudden change in room temperature, a familiar scent, or the appearance of repeating numbers. These signs are consistent with the experiences reported during reiki sessions, where practitioners and their clients sense spirits in non-verbal, energy-based forms.
